We’ve already spent several days in the beautiful Lugnez in the Sulselva amidst the impressive mountains of Graubünden. It’s not unlikely that we’ll show you more of this lovely spot in the future. Stay tuned!
Vella ist der Hauptort des Lugnez, oder wie man hier sagt: Val Lumnezia. Übersetzt ist es das Tal des Lichts und wenn Du einmal hier auf 1240 M.ü.M. rauf kommst, wirst Du selber erleben, dass dieser Name ein Versprechen ist. Von Zürich sind es knapp 2 Stunden – über die A3/A13 an Chur vorbei nimmst Du die Ausfahrt Flims/Laax und an diesen beiden bekannten Skiorten vorbei bis nach Ilanz, wo Du die Umfahrungsstrasse Richtung Disentis nimmst. Beim ersten Kreisel am Ende von Ilanz nimmst Du die zweite Ausfahrt und beim nächsten Kreisel die erste Ausfahrt – jeweils Richtung Obersaxen. Dann sind es nur noch rund 10 Minuten, immer auf dieser Hauptstrasse bis Du die Ortstafel Vella siehst.
Nebst der Weite, welche das Tal hier oben bietet, gibt es viele weitere Argumente, eben hierher zu kommen. Da wäre zum Beispiel der Sessellift im Dorf, welcher Dich mit dem schönen Skigebiet von Obersachen/Mundaun verbindet. Es stehen Dir 15 Liftanlagen und 45 Pisten mit rund 120 Pistenkilometern zur Verfügung. Das Tal ist aber auch im Sommer für Wanderungen oder Mountainbike Touren ideal. Angenehm ist auch die Tatsache, dass im Dorf wenig Verkehr herrscht, da die Hauptstrasse keine Durchgangsstrecke zu einem Touristenort ist. Ein paar wenige kleine, aber feine Restaurants, Gaststuben und zwei kleinere Hotels runden das touristische Angebot ab.
Wir empfehlen Dir wärmsten einen Besuch im Lugnez und es ist nicht auszuschliessen, dass Du uns hier über den Weg läufst.

Vella is the main town of Lugnez, or as they say here: Val Lumnezia. Translated, it means the Valley of Light, and when you come up here to 1240 meters above sea level, you’ll experience for yourself that this name is a promise. It’s just under a 2-hour drive from Zurich – take the A3/A13 past Chur, then exit at Flims/Laax. Pass next to these two well-known ski resorts until you reach Ilanz, where you take the bypass road towards Disentis. At the first roundabout at the end of Ilanz, take the second exit, and at the next roundabout, take the first exit – both towards Obersaxen. Then it’s just around 10 minutes, always on this main road until you see the sign for Vella.
In addition to the vastness offered by the valley up here, there are many other reasons to come here. For example, there’s the chairlift in the village that connects you to the beautiful ski area of Obersaxen/Mundaun. There are 15 lifts and 45 slopes covering around 120 kilometers available to you. The valley is also ideal for hiking or mountain biking in the summer. It’s also pleasant that there’s little traffic in the village, as the main road isn’t a thoroughfare to a tourist destination. A few small but excellent restaurants, guesthouses, and two smaller hotels complement the tourist offerings.
We highly recommend a visit to Lugnez, and it’s not unlikely that you’ll bump into us here.
